Wanda V. Hernandez, RN, MSN celebrates 11 years in the nursing industry

BROOKLYN, NY, July 30, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Wanda V. Hernandez, Nurse Manager for nine years for Long Island College Hospital, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in nursing.

As nurse manager, Ms. Hernandez is responsible for hiring staff, updating employees on the latest changes in policies and procedures, addressing budgetary issues and overseeing a total of 75 nurses in three units (labor & delivery, mother/baby and the NICU). She had to overcome a tremendous amount of adversity during the course of her life in order to achieve the success that she enjoys today. Ms. Hernandez was raised in an orphanage and lost her only child in the World Trade Center during the September 11 attack. Despite this, she has been able to demonstrate a level of tenacity and determination that literally sets her apart from everyone else in her field.

In 2009, Ms. Hernandez received her Dual Degrees: BS/Master of Science/Nurse Executive from Long Island University. She is a member of the New York Organization of Nurse Executives, the Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses.

Long Island College Hospital (LICH), which serves as the hub of Continuum's services in Brooklyn, is a 516-bed, teaching hospital located in the Brooklyn Heights/Cobble Hill section. LICH is the primary clinical teaching affiliate of the State University of New York Health Science Center at Brooklyn (SUNY-Downstate Medical Center).
