Olga S. Carr Honored by Cambridge Who's Who
Olga S. Carr was recognized on the National Association of Professional Women in 2009

NEW YORK, NY, November 6, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Olga S. Carr, Director of Grants Management for The New York Academy of Medicine, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in administrative operations.

With 37 years of professional experience, Ms. Carr is responsible for assisting investigators in finding opportunities for grants and funded awards, reviewing and submitting proposals to external funds, managing awards granted, setting up requested accounts, running the review and approval of the consultant agreements, reviewing the expenditures with the consultants and contractors, preparing financial reports and the final narrative reports, and monitoring and maintaining data. The New York Academy of Medicine (NYAM) has been advancing the health of people in cities since 1847. An independent non-profit organization, NYAM addresses health challenges facing the world's urban populations through interdisciplinary approaches to policy leadership, education, community engagement and innovative research. Drawing on the expertise of diverse partners worldwide and more than 2,000 elected Fellows from across the professions, our current priorities are to create environments in cities that support healthy aging; to strengthen systems that prevent disease and promote the public's health; and to implement interventions that eliminate health disparities. Ms. Carr began at Columbia University as a data entry clerk and she advanced to take on a position in the grant department. She attributes her success to her patience, and listening and investigation skills.

Ms. Carr obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Pace University in 1971. She is a member of the National Council of University Research Administrators and the Society of Research Administrators. She was also recognized on the National Association of Professional Women in 2009. In the future, she intends to continue with her academics, while advancing in her career.
