Betty Johnson Coplin Honored for Professional Excellence
Betty Johnson Coplin recognized for 44 years of invaluable contributions to the field of nursing

/Hospitals News Articles/ -- ALBERTVILLE, AL, January 4, 2010, Betty Coplin, Retired Registered Nurse from Select Specialty Hospital, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of nursing.

In an exclusive interview with Cambridge Publishing, Betty Coplin revealed that in 10th grade she made the decision to pursue a career in nursing. With a reputation for determination and perseverance, she made a name for herself in the 44 years she worked as a registered nurse for various hospitals including the VA in Tuscaloosa and Birmingham and the last being Select Specialty Hospital. In her capacity there, she was responsible for intensive care nursing.

In addition to her work-related responsibilities, Ms. Coplin acquired funding through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to build a beautiful home for three developmentally-disabled people. She designed the home herself, donated the land that the home was built on and spent her own money to furnish it. She is extremely proud of this accomplishment and considers it to have been one of the most gratifying aspects of her career.

Ms. Coplin has always been an independent woman and was successful in raising her mentally-challenged daughter on her own. She follows two mottoes: "You can do anything you set your mind to" and "You never know what you may get until you ask." She holds a registered nurse diploma and is certified in chemotherapy. Her professional affiliations include The American Nurses Association, Inc., and Johnson Home, Inc. In her free time, Ms. Coplin enjoys creating artwork using oil and charcoal mediums.
