Ethel T. Munro Honored by Cambridge Who's Who for Excellence in Education
Ethel T. Munro draws on four decades in the classroom in her work as a substitute teacher for her home district
BUFFALO, NY, October 07, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Ethel T. Munro, Substitute Teacher for Orchard Park Central School District, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in education.
Ethel T. Munro has enjoyed a fulfilling four-decade career in education. Now focused on substitute teaching, she is happy to give back to Orchard Park Central School District, her own home district. She is currently on her ninth year in this position, and is charged with teaching students from kindergarten to the 12th grade and interacting with parents. Ms. Munro reflects on her long career in the classroom, and is proud to note that many of her pupils have gone on to take their places in society as teachers, doctors, lawyers, architects, police officers, and the like. The recipient of the Cora P. Maloney Award and honored with inclusion in Who's Who Among America's Teachers, Ms. Munro attributes her longevity to hard work and her God-given ability to deal with diverse groups of children and adults.
A product of Buffalo State College, Ms. Munro earned a master's degree in behavioral studies, with a concentration in psychology and human interaction, and a bachelor of science. She is a certified nursery school teacher and holds a certification in education for grades 1-8. Her professional affiliations include the Orchard Park Retired Teachers' Association and the New York State Retired Teachers' Association. Ms. Munro has volunteered at Fourteen Holy Helpers Church, is a Health Care Advocate and has volunteered at Buffalo Children's Hospital. She looks forward to more years as a substitute teacher.
Orchard Park Central School District covers about 50 square miles and includes portions of six adjacent townships: Orchard Park, West Seneca, Hamburg, Boston, Elma and Aurora. It has four elementary schools, a middle school and a high school, serving some 5,400 students. Proud of its long tradition of excellence in academics, athletics, service and the arts, it is known for outstanding academic achievement at all levels. Some 90 percent of its graduates go on to higher education.
