Karin A. Gregory utilizes her years of experience in medical technology to thrive in her vocation

BOSTON, MA, October 04, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Karin A. Gregory, Managing General Partner of Furman Gregory Deptula, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in legal services.

For 22 years, Ms. Gregory has served as a seasoned attorney at law. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Chemistry, with a minor in Psychology, from Wells College and her Master of Public Health from Boston University. She went on to acquire her JD from Franklin Pierce Law Center in 1988. Thereafter, she embarked on her career. While holding the position of chief administrative officer and counsel to the Trustees of Health and Hospitals, she established the technology transfer function and oversaw the pre and post award grants and contracts office. She also held the position of division director for the Massachusetts Department of Public Health in the Epidemiology and Immunization program, managing over $50 million in state and federal contracts. Repositioning her career, she joined the Massachusetts Technology Development Corporation (MTDC), an early stage, state-sponsored venture capital firm as an investment professional. There, she took responsibility for 12 investments, sourcing eight and bringing those to the board for a first time investment. Of the 12 companies, seven were medical technologies. Over the course of her tenure with MTDC, she increased the number of healthcare investments and initiated closer ties with the medical entrepreneurial and investment communities. In mid 2002, she left MTDC and co-founded Dover Medical Ventures, L.P., an early stage medical device venture capital fund and eMedicus, Inc., a commercial IRB for the review and monitoring of clinical research studies being conducted by pharmaceutical and device companies in the field of oncology.

In 2005, Ms. Gregory teamed up with Donald Furman to form Furman Gregory LLC to represent early stage health care and technology companies, offering business consultation to these companies and other entities, including private equity funds. Currently, she serves as the managing general partner of Furman Gregory Deptula. Her experience with technology commercialization and small business positions her well to counsel clients on the daily issues facing them. Specializing in corporate law, she oversees the administrative department, markets, advises clients, manages staff members and other attorneys, and resolves business-related issues.

Presently a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association, Maine State Bar Association and American Bar Association, Ms. Gregory serves on the University of New England Board of Trustees, the Advisory Board of Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences and Governor's Advisory Council of the State of Maine. She also serves on the board of a local conservation commission and open space planning committee. In the future, she intends to build the reputation of her law firm and become a legal expert in the field of medical technology.
