Melody K. Tompkins, RN, BSN, MSN has been chosen out of over 400,000 professional members to be featured in Cambridge Publishing's "Top 101 Industry Experts" book for her work in the field of medical policy writing. The "Top 101 Industry Experts" book reveals the objectives and triumphs prominent Cambridge members have achieved to gain success. These exemplary leaders stay at the top of their fields by possessing unique experience and wisdom, all the while exhibiting innovation in their work.

As program manager of Alabama Medicaid Agency, Melody K. Tompkins is tasked with overseeing the Department of Medicaid, and writing and maintaining policies for the Alabama Medicaid Agency and other departments. She has trained and prepared staff members in the home health and long-term care industries to adhere to Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services guidelines for four years. She also trained nurses on how to assess and operate an MDS and OASIS instrument as required by CMS. She serves as a policy writer for Alabama and other states, and has helped Alabama save a considerable amount of money.

Ms. Tompkins received a Master of Science in Nursing from Troy University in 2000. A member of the Alabama Nurses Association, she volunteered to assist in Hurricane Katrina relief efforts, She names The University of Alabama at Birmingham, Children's Hospital of Alabama, Sunshine Group, and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital as her favorite causes. Looking ahead, she hopes to pursue a doctorate degree in informatics.

Alabama Medicaid Agency is a federal medical service agency that provides medical allowances and long-term care services for low-income children, disabled individuals, nursing home residents, and pregnant women.
