CINCINNATI, OH, April 12, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ --Ann H. Blocksom, Manager, Volunteer Services for The Christ Hospital, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in medical volunteer management.
Demonstrating 30 years of industry excellence, Ann H. Blocksom is noted for proficiency in all aspects of medical volunteer management. Now celebrating her third decade with The Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Ms. Blocksom utilizes her expertise to recruit and manage auxiliary staff. In addition to orienting new volunteers, she is responsible for training staff and preparing work schedules.
Having been inspired by the managerial prowess of the hospital's vice president, Ms. Blocksom pursued a career in volunteer management after working in the hospital's gift shop while attending high school and college. She credits her success to her interpersonal skills, and considers serving on the Executive Board for the Ohio Society of Directors of Volunteer Services, an affiliated society of OHA (Ohio Hospital Association) to be the most gratifying aspect of her career. In an interview with Cambridge Who's Who, Ms. Blocksom explained, "I enjoy recruiting and working with a variety of people to match their skills and interests with hospital needs. I am also involved in hospital committee/board work, special projects/events and I represent the hospital on the state level."
A graduate of the University of Cincinnati, Ms. Blocksom holds a bachelor's degree in education and psychology. She carries the volunteer component of her profession into her personal life and volunteers for several groups. She has served on the Cincinnati Music Theatre Board of Trustees since the 1990s as a volunteer and also finds time to support United Way, the American Heart Association, the Diabetes Association, and the CHCA Federal Credit Union Board. She enjoys attending the theatre and singing in her free time.
Recognized as one of the top 50 hospitals in the United States, The Christ Hospital has been serving Cincinnati's residents for the past 120 years. Staffed with an excess of 4,000 medical professionals, the hospital provides unsurpassed cardiovascular care, women's health, behavioral medicine, major surgery and cancer treatment among others.
