Marilyn S. Hughey, M.M.Sc., PA-C, Honored for Excellence in Healthcare
Marilyn S. Hughey celebrates nearly two decades with Emory University Hospital

ATLANTA, GA, April 7, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ --Marilyn S. Hughey, M.M.Sc., PA-C, Pulmonary and Critical Care Physician Assistant for Emory University Hospital, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in healthcare.

A 33-year veteran of patient care, Marilyn S. Hughey specializes in the treatment of cystic fibrosis. She has held her current position at Emory University Hospital since 1995. As a PA, she is responsible for supervising residents, caring for critically ill patients with pulmonary disorders, operating ventilators, managing intubation, performing critical care procedures, and handling billing. Ms. Hughey previously honed her skills as a physical therapist. She attributes her success to the inspiration that she received from her father, a veterinarian, and to the support of her late partner and mentor, Kenneth Brock, PA.

In addition to healthcare, Ms. Hughey is passionate about American-style and Latin dance. For the last five years, she has been participating in ballroom dance competitions - in May 2009 she finished in the Top 20 at the Atlanta Open. She also performs in numerous showcases, both in competitions and at her local studio.

Ms. Hughey holds a master of medical science in physician assistant studies from Emory University, earned in 1991, and a bachelor's degree in physical therapy from The Medical College of Georgia, earned in 1976. She is a member of the Georgia Association of Physician Assistants and the American Academy of Physician Assistants. Formerly, she sat on the board of directors of her local cystic fibrosis camp. Ms. Hughey looks forward to balancing her work at Emory University Hospital with participation in more dance competitions.
