Krystal Owens brings her expertise in medical-surgical, geriatric and psychiatric, and forensic nursing to the Department of Veteran Affairs

COATESVILLE, PA, May 18, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ --Krystal Owens, Registered Nurse for the Department of Veteran Affairs, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in nursing.

A 9-year veteran of patient care, Krystal Owens is considered an expert in medical-surgical, geriatric, forensic and psychiatric nursing. She lends her talents to the Department of Veteran Affairs, where she is tasked primarily with managing acute psychiatric unit as a charge nurse. Certified in geriatric nursing, Ms. Owens discovered her calling in healthcare after her grandmother fell ill, leaving in her a strong desire to learn about various methods of care. She attributes her success to having a profound respect for both her patients and her profession.

Ms. Owens is currently pursuing a dual master's degree in nursing leadership, with concentrations in legal nurse consulting and administrative justice, at Wilmington University. She obtained a bachelor of science in nursing from Delaware State University and an associate degree in liberal arts from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Her professional affiliations include the American Nurses Association, the American Organization of Nurse Executives, Sigma Theta Tau International, and the American College of Forensic Examiners International.

An active member of her community, Ms. Owens was honored in 2005 with a letter of recognition by the Community Legal Aid Service Department for changing the landlord tenant code for domestic violence victims. She also volunteers regularly with St. Francis Hospital.
