SAN FRANCISCO, CA, June 25, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Antonia R. Sacchetti, MD, former Medical Director for the Administration and Pediatrics Department of Mission Neighborhood Health Center, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in community-based healthcare.

With an impressive background that spans 45 years, Dr. Antonia R. Sacchetti's expertise is in pediatrics. As the Medical Director for the Pediatrics Department of Mission Neighborhood Health Center, she was responsible for overseeing clinical operations, quality control, medical management of preventive care, acute and chronic care for all life cycles including prenatal, teen, adult, elders, and specialized populations such as the homeless and patients with HIV. She had the honor of working with some of the most talented and innovative professionals in the healthcare industry. The most gratifying aspects of her work were serving the uninsured and under-insured as well as mentoring physicians and other employees to become successful leaders in their industries.

Prior to working at Mission Neighborhood Health Center, Dr. Sacchetti was a staff pediatrician. Other professional endeavors include working in pediatrics at Kaiser Permanente Hospital and general medicine at Letterman Hospital Outpatient. In addition, she researched price theory for Gardner Ackley, the chief economic advisor to John F. Kennedy.

Dr. Sacchetti completed her residency at University of California Children's Hospital of the East Bay in 1969 and her rotating internship at St. Luke's Hospital in 1965. A graduate of the University of Michigan Medical School, she earned her MD in 1964 and received a bachelor of arts from the University of Michigan in 1957. She is a recipient of the Community Physician Award from Kaiser Permanente. Most recently, she was named "Professional of the Year" by Cambridge Publishing for the 2008/2009 year.

Dr. Sacchetti is a founding member of the Western Clinicians Network as well as a member of the San Francisco Medical Society, the San Francisco Health Plan, the Quality Improvement Committee, the Physicians Advisory Committee, the National Association of Community Health Centers, Inc., the California Primary Care Association, the California Medical Association, the American Medical Association and Phi Beta Kappa. She is a supporter of Food For The Poor, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, Doctors Without Borders and breast cancer research.
