Brian A. Taylor, MBA, MA, FACHE, named "Professional of the Year in Healthcare Administration"
LA MESA, CA, July 27, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Brian A. Taylor, MBA, MA, FACHE, Director of Ambulatory Services at Sharp Grossmont Hospital, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of healthcare administration.
With an impressive professional background that spans 39 years, Mr. Taylor specializes in the management of healthcare operations and process improvement. At his current post, he is responsible for overseeing numerous departments including the David and Donna Long Center for Cancer Treatment, endoscopy & special procedures, speech therapy, vascular access services, oncology administration, the ambulatory infusion center, the wound healing center, hyperbaric medicine, the oncology data center, rehabilitative physical therapy services, massage therapy, recreational therapy, speech therapy, the hand clinic, pulmonary services, and the sleep disorder center.
Prior to joining Sharp Grossmont Hospital, Mr. Taylor held the position of executive director for the Greater Fort Lauderdale Heart Group and director of operations for Humana, Inc. in Kentucky. He also served in a myriad of leadership positions with Kaiser Permanente in San Diego and Atlanta, Georgia - retiring after 20 years of service. His leadership experience extends to his current role on the boards of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure San Diego Affiliate and the San Diego Organization of Healthcare Leaders, which is the San Diego-based affiliate of the American College of Healthcare Executives. In recognition of his accomplishments, he was honored with the Innovation Award by Kaiser Permanente and the Leader of the Month Award by Sharp Grossmont Hospital, just to name a few.
Mr. Taylor has extensive clinical experience in the healthcare field. He began his career as a U.S. Navy Hospital Corpsman and spent several years as a paramedic in San Diego. He is a registered respiratory therapist, certified respiratory therapist, licensed vocational nurse, and hyperbaric medicine technologist. A graduate of National University, he earned his MBA and a master's degree in human behavior in 1991 and 1983, respectively. He also earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from National University and an associate degree in science from Grossmont College. Additionally, he is a certified Six Sigma Green Belt in the field of process improvement. He received certification in healthcare management through the American College of Healthcare Executives, and is a member of the Association of Healthcare Leaders and the Undersea & Hyperbaric Medical Society.
For his professional excellence, Mr. Taylor was named Cambridge Publishing's 2009 "Professional in Healthcare Administration" for 2009.
