Kathryn J. Graham brings practical experience to Sunnyside Retirement Community

HARRISONBURG, VA, August 25, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Kathryn J. Graham, Director of Nursing at Sunnyside Retirement Community, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in nursing leadership.

A 34-year veteran of patient care, Kathryn J. Graham has brought practical experience to her work at Sunnyside Retirement Community since 1988. She is best noted for her expertise in implementing treatment plans and is entrusted with performing a wide range of responsibilities. The continuing care community's nursing director since 2008, she is in charge of overseeing the implementation of the nursing process from assessment and planning to implementation and evaluation. She supervises, evaluates and schedules nursing personnel, ensures compliance with the state's Nurse Practice Act of Registered Nurse licensure, and coordinates resource utilization, timely and appropriate care interventions and interdisciplinary communication to enhance patient and family satisfaction. Ms. Graham cites her aunts, who were nurses, as the inspiration for her career and attributes her longevity to her love for her profession.

Ms. Graham earned her bachelor of science in nursing in 1975 from Hartwick College. She is a member of the Virginia Association for Home Care and names the Humane Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, The Wildlife Center of Virginia, and the Alzheimer's Association as her favorite charities.
