Margaret M. Governo is a certified nurse practitioner in family therapy and psychiatry
STATEN ISLAND, NY, August 26, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Margaret M. Governo, Therapist for the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in psychiatry.
At the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation, Dr. Governo identifies individuals' needs and aids them in developing life skills through holistic methods; she administers interpersonal therapeutics and holistic-integrated techniques for stress reduction and life management.
Additionally, Dr. Governo teaches at Wagner College and maintains a private practice. In the past, she helped establish an adolescent program for health promotion and disease prevention at Coney Island Hospital. With 20 years of field experience, she attributes her success to her persistence and creative out of the box thinking.
The recipient of a state Award of Distinction, Dr. Governo serves on the board of the New York State Office of Mental Retardation & Developmental Disabilities. She is also an ambassador for the National League for Nursing and is affiliated with Sigma Theta Tau International, the New York State Nurses Association, the American Psychiatric Nurses Association, and the American Holistic Nurses Association.
In 1990, Dr. Governo graduated from the nurse executive program at Columbia University, where she earned a Doctor of Education. Having completed training in biofeedback hypnosis and imagery, she is a certified clinical nurse specialist, as well as a certified nurse practitioner in family therapy and psychiatry. In the future, she hopes to complete her book on holistic therapy.
