Ms. Thompson has 42 years of overall professional experience. As the owner of Compassionate Care at Home LLC, she is in charge of home healthcare administration, overseeing 32 employees, and managing all operations including issuing invoices, assessing patients, and recruiting. She also makes gift and fruit baskets for the needy. Prior to her current position, she worked at Ingram Regional Medical Center and Sisters of Mercy, and gained experience in surgical and emergency medicine, oncology, obstetrics and gynaecology, and infant care.

In 1968, Ms. Thompson completed coursework in nursing. She also participated in coursework in business studies, and received an award from the Ingham Regional Medical Center and the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas.
