Tara M. Trakes recently promoted to a clinical supervisory position in the Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit at Barrows Neurological Institute of St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center
PHOENIX, AZ August 12, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Tara M. Trakes, RN, BSN, CNRN, CCRN, Registered Nurse for Barrow Neurological Institute of St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership, and excellence in all aspects of nursing.
Tara has over a decade of professional experience in the healthcare field, and recently earned a clinical supervisory position at the Barrow Neurological Institute of St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center. As the newest member of the Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit's management team, Ms. Trakes is best noted for her proficiency in neuroscience and critical care nursing. Tara's responsibilities as a night clinical supervisor of a 32-bed ICU unit include, but are not limited to, ensuring that each team member is adequately trained, managing employee schedules, and designating the nursing assignments based on patient acuity. Tara is an integral part of the Quality Improvement on the unit. She is a consistent resource for the staff, and encourages empowerment and commitment to excellence through her coaching and mentoring of new and existing staff. Ms. Trakes considers having the ability to play a role in the education of the next generation of critical care neuroscience nurses to be especially rewarding and credits her success to hard work, a passion for nursing, and a genuine desire to care for and help others.
Tara holds a bachelor of science in nursing and intends to continue on in her career by becoming an Advanced Practicing Nurse. She is also an advanced cardiac life support instructor, and is certified in both neuroscience and critical care nursing. Her professional affiliations include the American Nurses Association (ANA), the American Association of Neuroscience Nurses (AANN), and the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN). She was named VIP of the year by Cambridge Publishing for 2009/2010. In recognition of her contributions to the healthcare field, Ms. Trakes was nominated for the Nurse of the Year in 2007, the Margaret Sherwood Nurse of the Year Award for Professionalism, Mentoring, and Commitment to Mission in May 2009, and for being an outstanding example of the core values of SJHMC especially the value of Excellence for the spring quarter - March 2009. Tara was chosen to represent Barrow's Neurological Institute at the World Federation of Neuroscience Nursing conference in Toronto, Canada in 2009.
