Rossana Maria Bortignon Honored for Dedication to Health Care
Rossana M. Bortignon loves making a difference in the lives of her clients

VANCOUVER, BC, CANADA, October 05, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Rossana Maria Bortignon, Vice President and Director of Client Services for BrightStar Care, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in health care.

Ms. Bortignon is a registered nurse with more than two decades of professional experience and expertise in medical care. She applies her skills to the role of vice president and director of client services of BrightStar Care Vancouver, a trusted caregiver company that provides homecare, including personal care, companionship, child care, and complex nursing care. Certified in emergency care and critical care, Ms. Bortigonon is responsible for overseeing all client services and staffing efforts. She meets with clients, assesses their conditions and determines which home care services and assistant would be right for them. Furthermore, she works with the critical care float pool at one of the trauma centers in British Columbia. Ms. Bortignon credits her success to her hard work and passion for her profession; she genuinely cares about her clients and loves making a difference in their lives.

After receiving her nursing diploma from the British Columbia Institute of Technology, Ms. Bortignon began her nursing career at Lion's Gate Hospital in North Vancouver, BC. She worked there for 10 years in the pre- and post-operative care of gynecology, urology, plastic and general surgery patients. During these years she often was in the leadership role of charge nurse/relief acting head nurse. She also took many nursing students under her wing as their preceptor during their final training months.

She was also involved in the hospital nursing council. During a time of much change in health care, she was provided with the great opportunity to be an integral part of introducing and implementing a new clinical practice nursing model, CPM, to the hospital. This changed how practice was implemented and documented throughout the entire facility, and eventually throughout the province.

Wanting a challenge, she chose to expand her horizons and return to BCIT to receive her ER/critical care nursing specialties. She began working in Lion's Gate ER and eventually transferred to Royal Columbian Trauma Centre, where she has worked as a trauma and critical care nurse.

She has also taken contract work as a clinical instructor for the ER specialty program at BCIT and worked with the YMCA Healthy Heart Program as one of its exercise nursing supervisors.

When BrightStar opened its first Canadian offices, the divisional director asked her to become his partner. Her new business venture as a Brightstar owner excites her immensely as she knows that with her experience and clinical direction, the company will be brought to a new level of superb home health care in Canada.
