Jacqueline V. Hermans Honored for Excellence in Nursing
Jacqueline Hermans assisted in countless emergency medical operations throughout her 35-year career

Durham, NC, June 1, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Jacqueline V. Hermans, Retired Nurse, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in nursing
.
Ms. Hermans succeeded in distinguishing herself as a dedicated nurse since earning a Bachelor of Science in nursing from the University of North Carolina in 1974. In the course of her career, she exhibited her leadership skills in overseeing instruments and at times operating rooms during evening- or night-hours. She utilized her expertise while assisting in numerous general surgery operations as well as plastic, oral and ENT surgeries. While working she followed the in-service nursing education classes scheduled in the hospital as much as possible and after being retired participated in nursing education classes that were scheduled by independent Educational Training Institutions for keeping up with required Continuing Education. She also took the graduate entrance exam in 2008, opening up the possibility for a possible graduate level education. Before joining UNC Hospitals in 1975 as an OR nurse, she worked as an RN at the Cardiology ward at Duke Hospital. This was a step-down unit of the CCU, the intensive cardiac care unit. She worked there also as a student and ALPN during her nursing training starting 1970 to 1974, working weekends and receiving financial support for her education from the Duke PEP (Program for Employee Progress) program. She has also been a member of professional Nurses Organizations, the AORN and ANA and has subscribed to the AORN Journal, which is known as "the official voice of Perioperative Nursing," and went to an AORN World Congress in Hague, The Netherlands and a National Congress in Atlanta, GA.

Now retired, Ms. Hennans stays current in the nursing industry through her affiliations with the State Employees Association of North Carolina and the Educational Institutions that provide continuing education and is currently an honored VIP member of Cambridge Who's Who. She also stays current by taking undergraduate nursing-related courses and graduate courses. These educational endeavors may lead to a part-time fulfilling employment in nursing or related fields, but certainly provide her with valuable knowledge and enrichment. As a health care professional, Ms. Hennans understands the importance of remaining physically active in her retirement. She enjoys sailing, skiing, swimming, and practicing yoga.
