Improving the healthcare system, one physician at a time...Introducing: Expediting the Inevitable
—New Organization Launches with a Humble Goal: "To Revolutionize the Healthcare System by Better Engaging Women Physicians"—

Buffalo, NY July 14, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- As the percentage of women graduating from medical school approaches 50%, the nation's healthcare organizations are under increasing pressure to update antiquated gender-based practices. Organizations that have resisted bridging the gap between evolved social norms and outdated internal policies now risk being unable to attract and retain the new generation of talent, in addition to being unable to serve patients effectively, enjoy marketplace dominance, and continue business growth. It is in response to this reality that Expediting the Inevitable (ETI) finds its mission. Officially launching today, the organization tackles the issues of residual imbalances head on, with consulting services, educational programs, and community outreach. More information about Expediting the Inevitable is available at www.ExpeditingtheInevitable.com.

"The need to update outdated gender practices in the healthcare system is as much a business issue as it is a social one," said Linda Brodsky, MD, Founder of Expediting the Inevitable. "Businesses—independent of industry—that resist evolving are at risk of stagnation, marketplace irrelevance, and profit loss. ETI's goal is to work with these organizations, institutions, and the physicians who serve them to bring them up to speed with the needs of their workforces and patients, and to do it quickly."

Expediting the Inevitable's mission is threefold: 1) to catalyze organization-wide change within the healthcare workplace; 2) to assist women physicians in gaining on-the-job flexibility by promoting at-work collaboration and co-adaptation; and 3) to educate the general public on the deleterious effects of residual gender policies to their own health.

To meet these goals, ETI works onsite with organizations experiencing the negative business and workforce implications of gender policies that have failed to keep pace with the times, as well as to help them avoid—and respond to—related lawsuits. ETI will also work directly with women medical professionals to facilitate workplace flexibility and collaboration with employers in order to help them avoid costly litigation. Finally, ETI will raise the public's awareness of related issues through ongoing educational content, an active member community, and social media outreach.

Expediting the Inevitable was founded by Linda Brodsky, MD, a renowned pediatric otolaryngologist and 25-year healthcare industry veteran. Dr. Brodsky was inspired to effect change in the healthcare system after having spent almost a decade as a litigant in several gender discrimination lawsuits. The cases was resolved to the satisfaction of all parties, but the issues that motivated the case still widely persist and need to be addressed.
