Margaret E. Barry Exhibits Excellence in School Nursing
Ms. Barry oversees the health and wellness of children of U.S. military personnel
ARLINGTON, VA, July 18, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Margaret Barry, School Nurse for the U.S. Department of Defense Dependents Schools, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in nursing.
Ms. Barry, who has 34 years of experience in the nursing field, originally utilized her skills in a hospital setting. For the past 22 years, however, she has served as a school nurse for the Department of Defense Dependent Schools. In this role, she oversees the health and wellness of children of U.S. military personnel. Ms. Barry has been instrumental in working with the schools' operational manual and working on a task force for a new computer program for student health information. She also handled the school nurses' orientation for 12 years. Ms. Barry has recently become the first Student Health and Wellness Instructional System Specialist for the U.S. Department of Defense Education Activity.
In 1974, Ms. Barry graduated from the University of Texas with a Bachelor of Science in nursing. She received a Master of Education in health education from the University of Houston 10 years later. She is a National Board Certified School Nurse and a member of the Academy of Fellows of the National Association of School Nurses. Her further professional affiliations include the Overseas School Health Nurses Association, which nominated Ms. Barry for School Nurse of the Year in 1998
