Ms. McClure celebrates 55 years of experience in nursing

ALGONA, IA, August 12, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Gloria Winona McClure, Registered Nurse of the Good Samaritan Society of Algona, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in nursing care.

With an extraordinary 55-year career in nursing, Ms. McClure has always been an inspiration to her staff, and she acknowledges being equally inspired by colleagues of all ages. Ms. McClure began her training at the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in 1956 before pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Iowa. Upon her graduation in 1960, she held a part-time position with the ear, nose and throat unit of University of Iowa Hospital. She then transitioned to a local hospital, where she worked for 14 years on the medical-surgical floor. Following this, she became a staff nurse, before eventually becoming a charge nurse, at a care center. After spending more than two decades at the center, she entered retirement. Since then, Ms. McClure has continued to serve in a limited capacity with the Good Samaritan Society of Algona, which recognized her service by naming her Employee of the Year in 1998.

Apart from her nursing commitment, Ms. McClure serves as the treasurer for United Methodist Women as well as for the Algona branch of AAUW.
