Melodie Jean Tompkins Named a VIP of the Year for Excellence in Nursing

LOCH SHELDRAKE, NY, September 26, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Melodie Tompkins, Case Load Nurse for New Hope Community, Inc., has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in nursing.

As a case load nurse for New Hope Community, Inc., Ms. Tompkins contributes to the organization's mission to enhance the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Her career entails working in an adult group home of mentally and physically challenged individuals and training staff to administer medication and deal with daily situations. She also screen calls, consults by phone and confers with doctors and pharmacies. She has served in this capacity for the last eight years.

In recognition of her work, Ms. Tompkins was recently distinguished as a VIP of the Year by Cambridge Who's Who. This special distinction honors individuals who have shown exceptional commitment to achieving personal and professional goals. Ms. Tompkins attributes her success to her love for seeing progress in patients. She holds an associate degree in nursing, earned in 1994, and remains current in her industry through affiliation with the New York State Mental Retardation/Developmental Disabilities Nurses Association. Ms. Tompkins plans to pursue bachelor's and master's degrees in the near future.
